Facilities On Board The Shivalik Deluxe Express
Shivalik Deluxe Express came into existence on the lines of the Shatabdi Express. It  comprises of 120 seats  double glass windows and are well carpeted. There are comfortable cushioned chairs for the travelers where they can enjoy a comfortable ride and enjoy the meals too. Effective lighting and background music makes ones journey more lively. The behavior offered on the Shivalik Deluxe Express is extremely cosseting. Breakfast is provided while the train is on the move from Kalka to Shimla and dinner is given on the time of return journey. The payment for dinner is taken along with the charges of the ticket fare while the breakfast provided is complementary. The on board train helper is there to perform every small requirement of yours.
The captivating Journey
There is a distance of around 96 kms from Kalka to Shimla. The Shivalik Deluxe Express starts journey at 5:30 am in the wee hours from Kalka and starts climbing up the hill in next five minutes. It is because of this tedious movement which the train has to cover, that its speed does not accelerate more than 20 to 25 km per hour. This is a blessing in disguise as it permits you to get engrossed in the natural beauty of the place. The passengers get captivated with the beautiful valleys and striking towns and villages.
The only official halt of the train is Barog where you are provided with food packets. Any additional requisite for breakfast can be made, but before the train arrive at Barog Station.

In approximately four and half hours , the train arrive at the beautiful hill station of Shimla. The return journey of the train starts in the evening at 5.30 pm.
